Big (15% on label but surely higher), ripe, Merlot dominated. Unbalanced and beginning to be over the hill. Chocolate and velvety textures for those who like that.

Got half a case of this beauty from a private seller. Unbelievable structure in this wine. Like tasting a bowl of raspberries and cream with hints of tobacco and just a hint of mint. Drank over 3 nights and it improved drastically over the 2nd and 3rd night. Had it with steak and risotto on the 2nd night and with lasagna on the third night. It is so complex yet so delicious . I m just happy I have 5 more bottles in my cellar.

Merlot 70%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20%, Cabernet Franc 10% My first experience with this '06 wine, and the first Villa Fidelia I have had since an '04 I had 5 years ago. Inky, dense, somewhat subdued nose. In the mouth, this is unexpectedly well-balanced and old World (dare I say). Much different than the '04. There is some nice bitter chocolate here, menthol, and decaying leaves. The black cherry fruit is here but not prominent. A little bitter on the finish with some tobacco leaves. With firm tannins this certainly has 10 years left, easy. Really surprising effort from what I assumed with be a super-Tuscan fruit bomb.

Hard to believe this is $20/bottle. In a good drinking window. Inky purple, full-bodied, slightly less complex than I'd like with a relatively short finish. But great QPR. Great wine on a Tuesday night with tacos.
