Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • An utterly impossible wine to dissect right now. So much promise comes from the nose; the scents almost protrude without really exerting themselves. Forgive me if I say that, at this stage, it smells strikingly like high-class GrueVe-lots of fennel, honeydew and lemongrass-but without Grand Cru GrueVe's tendencies toward prolific concentration. There's fruit here in abundance, no question; but there's sooo much going on here, it almost just blows by entirely right now, like a Ferrari: You know it's awesome, you think you're capable of comprehending it, but in reality, you've never driven one, you honestly don't know the 'Why?' of its awesomeness, and you almost missed it ALL it was going so fast. That's what we've got here. Give this time. The palate is utter refreshment-proud, vibrant, exceedingly lush and buoyant all at once. Lots of lime, lots of Granny Smith. Just pure, exalting, honest perfection. Love it for what it is right now, but it needs another year to grow. I think. But dare me to stop drinking a Grand Cru wine at 9 Euro a bottle...pleeeeez. Case wine.
