  • Blind Tasting - Battle of the States: Talc, spice, honey, pineapple and a light oak note. Great acidity, really nicely balanced. Had this a few months ago and it is maybe even a touch better than the last great bottle. Superb.

  • Nutty, honey, nectarine and pineapple. Fantastic fruit intensity upfront, it feels rich but across the mid-palate the acidity really focuses in and drives the wine beautifully. Super wine at its peak.

  • Tropical nose of green papaya and mango, with background notes of caramel and heavy cream. Palate initially resembles mineral water, with sharp acidity and the bitter, leafy, green flavours of spinach and radicchio. Beneath these sharp elements lies the smooth flavour of salted caramel.

With time, a note of pineapple emerges. The caramel flavour becomes more well-integrated with the green papaya and salad leaf flavours, but the entry retains strong bitterness on the entry. There's also a good-and-bad touch of bacterial funkiness that grows stronger over time. Not as good as the bottle I had a year ago, but very enjoyable and interesting.

  • Crisp, fruit-driven Chardonnay, with flavours of mango, peach, lemon, pear and nectarine. Acidity is high, and there are no obvious oak or butter notes, but it's smooth and medium-bodied, not a steely Chablis-style Chardonnay. Slight hints of fresh bread and funk (dirty laundry) emerge with time, but the acidity and tropical fruit notes hold centre stage.

  • This wine appears to be in an ideal window. The color has started to become the golden color that an aged chardonnay takes on. There is a small hint of honey and toast overtones which may become more pronounced over the next 12-24 months
