Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Still fairly deep in colour the Quinta do Mouro 2002 is all about the ripe dark fruits, the orange zest, tar and a feeling of controlled gluttonous sweetness (never over the top). The earthy tone is behind and still silenced by the weight of the almost primary fruit. You can really "smell" the weight of this charming monster. Very full bodied and still with a tannin or two to shed it carries its austerity to a prolonged finale. Lots of fruit, structure and acidity will see it through a long life. Starting to drink well but not yet at peak.

  • Deep dark purple with hints of red. Just opened and very closed with chokecherry notes, basalmic, pepper, earth and smoke. Tannins are big and firm yet very fine. Medium acidity helps frame the flavors of blackpepper, anise, chokecherry, black cherry, and some wood. Big wine needing a few years to calm down. 3.5/5
