  • So Impressive !! In a great spot, this wine is still tasting extremely good right now !! A single clone success.
The cork was near perfect after over a decade in the bottle. I consumed this balanced single clone Pinot Noir over two days. Deep ruby color with minor oxidation and great clarity. Aromas of pomegranate and rose hips; flavors of cranberry, rhubarb, and black tea with a pleasant medium to long finish. Popped and poured, this wine really benefited from gentle oxygen since it was much more soft & integrated on day two. Great fruit with firm acidity made into a very balanced Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hill appellation of Santa Barbara County. This Pinot Noir was clearly more age worthy than I expected. Unfortunately, this was the last bottles of this vintage remaining in my cellar. A great winemaking effort from Greg Brewer.

  • Bright, candied fruit, reminiscent of classic Dijon clones. Lightly oxidized color, still has some good cellar life left. Be careful with the cork when opening.

  • Melville Clone Tasting AND pre-2000 California Cabernet: Intense and with the same green notes as in the Calera wines. Made with whole-cluster fermentation.

  • Nice showing for this wine. The aromatics and palate provide a more open and accessible profile then a previously tasted bottle. On the palate, the wine shows a somewhat cloying blueberry element that distracts from the overall impression.
