  • So much wood, even after all this time. Perhaps it would have been better 10 years ago - maybe.

  • Sappy, herbal edged wine with some resinous notes on the nose.
The palate has a sharp almost tart acidity with flavours of Tart Tatin, fennel, tarragon and river stones. Light in weight with little tannin the wine feels tight and the acid protrudes.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, it has light ruby color, with legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (-) intensity aromas of red fruit such as sour cherry, maturity notes of wet leaves, sweet spice of cinnamon, pungent spice of licorice, animal notes of meat. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium tannin which is a bit harsh and rough. Medium in alcohol and medium (-) in body, it is showing medium intensity flavors of red fruit such as sour cherry and raspberry, herbal notes of mint, sweet spice of cloves. The wine has a short finish.
Conclusion: Acceptable quality Bourgogne with a fairly light nose showing little complexity, the structure of the wine is there but the palate is not much interesting, with a bit tartness on acidity and some harsh tannin. The flavors are similarly mediocre with only a short finish. But taking into the perspective that it is a Hautes Cotes de Beaune, this wine may not be a bad one. Ready to drink now, it is not supposed for ageing further.

  • Evening with Edouard Labeye at Winery of Good Hope and some smart bottles (Winery of Good Hope): Herbal-edged aromas with sap and resin. Relatively lightweight wine tightly wound with a piercingly high tart acidity, very sharp and not very balanced. Linear with lemon juice, lemon tart, fennel and tarragon alongside washed stones. Rather simple.
