Lovely tar and roses, but mixed with ripe alcoholic fruit and burning rubbing alcohol... winebid bottle.. cork looked pristine so the bottle seemed fine.

excellent; tar, rose; mushroom; light but with good acidity in the backbone; this was slightly less intense than the poderi luigi einaldo 2004 i had side by side with this bottle

This hugely surprised to the upside. In a nutshell, I'd describe this in its current form as textbook Barolo, modern or otherwise. Had a nice lighter red with significant bricking and a telltale nose of all the typical elements but still backed with a nice core of dark fruits. Oak is present but not overdone, or perhaps just faded nicely by this point. Very nice finish ~30 seconds, with lingering tannins to give the wine some backbone. Didn't fade at all during the evening (drank over 3 hours). I'd say definitely peak drinking right now and up to another 5yrs. Very good value for the money. Apparently they don't make a wine from this vineyard anymore, last year seems to have been 2008. I'm definitely going to look for more of this.

It seems that the fruit is fading and that this vintage probably needs to be consumed soon. Perhaps this was an off bottle as it did have a little bit of mustiness to it.

An enjoyable mature Barolo with dark red fruits, mellow tannins, good minerality and a medium finish.
