Chateau Grand Traverse Winery Visit (Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan) (Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan): Tasted at the winery. This wine is not made every year. I was told that the last time it was made was 10 years ago but not sure if that is correct because some CT member have a 2005 in their inventory. 2007 presented excellent growing conditions. A hot year which ripened the grapes fully and then a cool wet October which encouraged the growth of noble rot. Only 200 cases of 500ml bottles were made. This spent 1 month in an untoasted 350 gallon barrel. This wine was a yellow color. Very beerenausleselike. A concentrated dessert wine with delicious notes of peach skin, tropical fruit and black tea. Wonderful balance. I did not buy this because I am overstocked with dessert wine and now regret it. Great value at $25. 92 points.

Nose of pear syrup, honeysuckle, orange marmelade. Apple pie flavors on the palate, treacly, but also some acidity on finish.
