  • Now this was a real freaking treat. Opened over Thanksgiving weekend with a very kind and generous family member who was born in 73. Cork came out easily and in 1 piece with a waiters corkscrew (was on vaca and didn't have my ah-so), which was impressive in its own right, and got me excited for what was to come with this wine.

It poured a dark red color with only a slight amount of bricking. Seriously amazing for a wine of this age. Blind, you'd never have guessed it was 42 years old.
On the nose, a slight mustiness that blew off quickly, and was replaced with sweet red cherries, earth, and a hint of flowers.

On the palate, this was fantastic. Sweet red fruits, with some leather, and savory characteristics. Medium long finish and some grip at the end from tannins that are mostly integrated, but somehow still noticeable.

An amazing wine and another testament to the insane wine making from Ridge /Paul Draper. So happy I could share this birth year wine with someone who has been very so kind and loving to me and my family.
