Very dark. Concentrated fruit and mocha aromas, palate of ample fruits, molasses and some nice pepper spice freshness, well counter-balanced by just enough underlying acidity and robust tannins. In my book a very good example of a ripe modern Nero d'Avola; possibly at its peak - overall extremely good value.

The nose showed masses of ripe crushed berries, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, minerals and a bit of vanilla. On the palate, it was velvety smooth and rich but was quickly made fresh by a balanced of acidity and tannin. Flavors of dark red fruits and sweet spice filled out the palate, leading to a medium-logn finish of ripe berries and sweet spice. This is a seriously overachieving wine for the price and although it's very ripe and rich, everything has its place in my book.

Dark. "Southern" nose. Fruit and tar. Some strawberry, cherry and chocolate. Herbs, spices and darker fruits. Slightly stewed, slightly jammy. Very well put together. Nice balance of fruit and acid and tannin. Smooth feel in the mouth. Velvety with air. Even better on day 2 (half the bottle left corked for 24 hours). One of the best of this sort of wine (though to be fair the style is a sort of pan-Med one from Sicily via Montenegrin Vranac and Bulgarian Mavrud to many Greek wines....), but very expensive for what you are getting here (£20 GBP). I can see why a previous reviewer found this "boring", but I like it.

Just grapey and boring right now, maybe it will improve with some air, but I don't have high hopes. Fine mouth feel, well made, just boring....

Wine Education Service Sicily Tasting (LSE, London): Very deep colour. Fresh earth nose. Blackberry and blueberry fruit. Soft, juicy, fresh palate. Warm and smooth. One for the winter.
