Nearly opaque color. Dense, rich, spicy dark fruit & toasy oak on the nose. Similar flavors show on the front, followed by a explosive crecendo of spice & acidity through the midpalate transition, and finishing with soft, fully resolved tannins. Surprisingly little heat desite the high etoh. [15.7% abv.; $27.00].

Great expressive nose with wild berries, boysenberry, espresso, and vanilla. Palate big and round, with definite fine tannin backbone that softens with air. More red and blue fruits, blueberries and blackberries, oak and vanilla with strong white pepper note. Plenty of espresso and earth on the finish along with some candied fruit. Very fruit driven, on the verge of being over done, with some heat on the finish that was more noticeable as the wine warmed in the glass. Still, a wine I enjoyed immensely.

Consistent with previous note plus a light olive element. Delicious. IMO, Novy's base level syrah's are outstanding and outstanding QPR. Kudos.

Nicely integrated tannins, dark fruits, no heat, drinking well right now.
