  • Takes a little while to open up, but when it does, it's clear this is still a quite living and viable bottle of wine. Palate has a nice texture, and the finish still has a nice bit of a kick to it. QPR is just ridiculous at the price that I paid ($14 on sale from the winery). Wish I had more.

  • Dark purple color. The plummy nose begins to set up dark cherry, black pepper, and soil. On the palate, there is ample plum, dark cherry, violets, and pepper. There are some drying tannins in this medium-bodied wine, but the acidity is nicely balanced. The finish is shortened by the tannins but still dislpays dark fruit and a touch of spice. Overall, this is a very enjoyable wine that is true to the grape and went beautifully with homemade sausage and meatball lasagne.

  • Not decanted, consumed over 2 hours. This took some time to open up. Dark fruit, spice, and coffee on the nose, maybe a little smoke. Similar notes on the palate, but with the fruit taking a back seat to the coffee and a strong savory note of something like kalamata olives. Good acid and tannin levels. A little unusual, but enjoyable overall. 88ish

  • Starting to open up for business - popped and poured, needed about 10 minutes to open up; dark red/purple, medium bodied wine; reticent nose of dark fruit, floral notes, and a little bacon fat; big palate of peppery blue fruit, and a pleasant citrus note; fine tannins, medium finish. Another nice bottle from Novy!!!

  • Popped and poured, needed about 30 minutes to open up and improved over 3 nights; dark violet, medium bodied wine; initial nose of bacon fat, blue fruits - then blueberry and floral notes; dark fruits, and a nice amount of peppercorn on the palate; fine tannins, decent acidity, medium finish. This was really singing on the 3rd night - I'm going to try and wait at least 6 months before opening the next. Another nice bottle from Novy.
