(SIMIAN Cotes du Rhone) UPDATE: Holiday Schedule Thanksgiving Schedule Wednesday Nov 25th: 11am - 4pm (if you are picking up tomorrow, please note the early closing time!) Thursday Nov 26th - CLOSED Friday Nov 27th - CLOSED Saturday Nov 28th - CLOSED Sunday Nov 29th - CLOSED We will re-open Monday November 30th for normal business hours. Have a wonderful holiday weekend with friends and family - Garagiste ********************** 2007 Rhone Dear Friends, This is one of those offers where I nod a humble thank you to the winemaker and merely act as a conduit between their generosity and your enjoyment. After the 2006 Simian offer, most replies came back with "How about 2007?" (Certainly predictable) - the problem is that the winery is too small - most of the 2007's were allocated early last year and 99% of their distribution is via there own delivery. They rarely have any wine leftover from any vintage (even 2002) and that leaves the US out of luck. I forwarded all of your 2007 requests to Jean-Pierre Serguier and he feels a sense of humility from all the attention. So, this is basically their house stash normally reserved for their own consumption or for local restaurants. If you want to know what the owners of Chateau Simian drink with their Sunday dinner, here's your chance...from 2007. From Jean-Pierre: "2007 Cotes du Rhone - The dress is fuchsia/dark, the nose is aromatic with fruit jam notes. The mouth is round, vinous and powerful with a final on the strawberry. This wine will accompany pork-butchery, roasted white meats, the meats to the barbecue, steak tartare, paella, the couscous, or even salmon Tartar or mussels of Provence. This year we are 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault." After Parker's 98pt rating a few weeks ago for their 2007 CdP GGH (along with arguably the most alluring verbiage of any wine in the review) Chateau Simian is now among a handful of the most sought after producers in Chateauneuf du Pape. In other words, we'll take whatever charity they allow - Cotes du Rhone or other. Considering Jean-Pierre produced this wine with the exact same technique and attention to detail as his regular no-oak, traditional 2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, my guess is that you will not be disappointed. Keep in mind, the Serguier's select the most transparent wine from each vintage for their own consumption - it's the only way to monitor the progress of the year and to properly gauge the fruit of their estate and its potential interaction with food (a critical equation for the family). Considering this is the wine they chose to drink from 2007, my intuition tells me the Simian Cotes du Rhone is going to be among the top bargains of the season - especially for $10+. If you are searching for wine you will not find everywhere (or anywhere for that matter), here you go - directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY 2007 Chateau Simian Cotes du Rhone (I can't make any price comparisons, this item is not available in the US - the winery cellar door has some at $8-10 and maybe a few places in Europe, but that's about it) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone3488
