  • Three years ago we chose this wine to start my wife's birthday weekend. Last night we had a bottle as an aperitif before a birthday dinner. Still and elegant wine. Light yellow in color, white flowers on the nose the palate was a near perfect blend of pears and oak with a hint
of citrus and a lingering finish.

  • Subtle and elegant, fresh yet creamy – ‘just’ a premier cru bottle, but certainly no slouch! With Chassagne-Montrachet holdings that include acreage in the grand crus of Le Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of both red and white premier cru sites, the Blain-Gagnard clan is no stranger to the region. The result is a well-made wine displaying great typicity – no more, no less. Austere on the nose, it was immediately available on the palate; lemon, pear, and plenty of stone fruit burst forth along with a streak of stony minerality. Green melon and pineapple came forward, as did an intriguing red hint of strawberry. The 10-20% new oak was delicate and perfectly integrated, showing by way of toast and cinnamon. An subtle creaminess led to an wonderfully smooth mouthfeel with the help of moderate but suitable acidity; it also combined with the ripe pear to give a sense of sumptuous pear yogurt. Further development provided honey, brown sugar, and brulee, which lingered through the finish. It was quite a tasty bottle, and as such didn’t really last long enough to see what extended time in air would bring – still, there was certainly no complaining about the experience. With it still drinking so fresh, it would stand to reason that there’s still plenty of room for further improvement – I for one would be happy to find out!
