Cellaraid Discovery Box; 5/19/2017-5/26/2021 (Delivered to Home): deep garnet; cranberries, blackcurrant and hawthorne - seem cooked, with oak and bitter chocolate, and tertiary characters of tea and smoked duck; there's a burnish wave of alcohol, and felt a bit overripe; finish of mint and grass

45Merlot/20Carignan/20Grenache/15CabSauv. Best $6 wine I've ever had; waiting for the bite that never comes. It has more going on than just fruit forward and no typical cheap French green or metallic tastes. I decanted one 4 hours and there were some nice red fruit tastes and aromas. The '07 is newly out for $8 at Binnys but at $6 this '06 is satisfying.

color: light purple, red opal; nose: not much - faint blackberry and even less oak; taste: thin mouth feel, red berries, tasty but chalky dry finish of short-to-medium duration, with slightly puckery tannins that reminded me of sucking on a Sweet Tart; overall: OK lower-alcohol, rustic weekday wine that probably benefits from pairing with food (maybe a simply-roasted chicken?) rather than drinking on its own, decent QPR (Morris Miller's sale price was $8) but for me the style doesn't bring the thunder and I wouldn't buy it again -- for the same price, I far prefer the Goats do Roam red blend.

Sweet candied cherry on the nose. Friendly. Very overt for a merlot dominated wine. Palate is light, acid and tannin in harmony with the fruit and body (medium on all medium - on body). Finish is short and a touch sharp showing more acid and tannin than fruit. Works at $9. Shows the carignan on the palate with dusty tannin character.

Cellaraid - A Beef Odyssey - Coonawara Wine Dinner (Garang Grill): deep garnet; tannins mostly resolved, full body; blackberry, cedar, chocolate, mushrooms, earthy, tobacco; think it has gone past its best
