After decanting for 4 hours an poured back into the bottle and wine fridge for two nights it was very northern Rhone in style. Nose of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, asian spice, and blueberries. On the palate it showed notes of black tea leaf, soy sauce with briny coastal sea air, crushed rocks and asphalt wrapped in violets. Floral and almost nutty character, which has become a distinct Rim Rock character.

Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara, CA): Dark plum violet. Deeply fruited but not dried or OTT in any way, with charcoal and stony nuances. Strong extraction but not overdone, this is almost imenetrably dense and in need of time to unwind.
