  • A really nice glass, complex and ready to enjoy with a bit of development, but there's obviously some variation in absolute quality. Our last bottle.

  • Fabulous show, drenched in light brownish red colours. Complex nose with nice development towards mushrooms and forest floor. Typical german wormwood, sage and rowan berries. Some butterscotch and spice box from one third new barrels. Lovely red currant and red cassis notes, a few lingonberries and strawberries. Metal shavings and black pepper minerality. Some bitter orange too, there's a lot to find here. On the palate we note great acidity and intense aromas on a lighter midweight frame, but with a creamy, viscous mouthfeel. A bit of herbs add bite, and the long finish has a slightly peppery feel to it. In its own very german way it's just as tasty as a great burgundy 1er.
