  • #22-06. From half-bottle. Surprisingly intense and low-acid, this feels like its sweetness is more balanced by its extract alone than via the acid. Very intense and sweet, with brown botrytis spice and intensity almost to the point of bitterness, but at the same time still somehow possessing the lightness of a Mosel riesling. Still young, but nevertheless enjoyable and ready now (with its nascent secondary characteristics) even if it has decades ahead.

  • #22-06, 7.5% abv. From half-bottle. It's almost a little strange to say that this feels low in acid, but in the context of Prüm it feels true. Anyway, this is a botrytis-laden wine, showing the very ripe nature of the vintage on the nose with fruit that feels almost a slight bit roasted (though not in a bad way). More stone fruit than apples and pears, this also has a bit of that classic creamy texture you get from old(er) Wehlener Sonnenuhr. There's enough extract here to give this a chewy texture and there's a bit of a black tea note here too. Not a riesling driven by its acids. The right thing to do is to set aside my last bottle of this and let it age for many more decades, but given how good this is now, that will be a pretty difficult proposition.

  • #22-06, 7.5% abv. From half-bottle (and to reiterate, with a VDP auction sticker, but a white capsule). An utterly magnificent bottle of riesling, that is probably decades away from maturity. The nose is smoky and intense, replete with botrytis notes -- there's more spice than outright fruit on the nose here. The palate is rich and almost oily in texture, but a hint of bitter orange peel alongside the usual riesling acidity gives this plenty of electricity and excitement. As typical with the vineyard, there are also some creamy notes on the palate, but they take a back seat to the general intensity of the fruit and botrytis here.
