  • Opened for my 50th birthday. It was garnet in color with bricking at the edges. I didn't take very good notes, but there was still primary fruit and plenty of acidity left to give it structure and lift.

  • Snagged a couple of these at auction and noticed one was leaking, so figured I'd better pop it open.  Cork was completely saturated but was no match for my Durand and came out easily in 1 piece.  The wine pours a deep red color with just the slightest bit of browning along the edges.  There's a bit of old bottle funk on the nose at PnP but that blew off quickly and was replaced with amazingly youthful  notes of sweet black fruits, and purple flowers.  Absolutely killer nose without a hint of secondary characteristics.  On the palate, this tastes almost as young as it smells.  Black fruit, asphalt, and a bit of tobacco on the medium plus finish.  Just an excellent wine and a real pleasure to drink.  Love these old CA 'Burgundies' when they're on
