Why the Alicante? "This is the wine my mom decided to dedicate to the Enologist, and he decided that this would be the best grapes for the wine. Carlo Ferrini (sp?) is the consultant. Or was the consultant.
"Now the consultant is a French lady from Bordeaux (I missed the name) but she apperently works for Chateau Lafite (?!?).
"This wine ages for 18 months in wood -- French and Solvenina. For now we have this wine because the aging is long but the first vintage of the new consultant is coming this year (2010).
"The Grado is Carlo Ferrini and the seven doves are the seven women of the winery".
Quotations from Violante Gardini.
Now here is the combination of some new french wood with Sangiovese. The Alicate does show with some spice notes and minerality across the palate.

Did not find exceptional, but drinkable. Not a favorite of mine.

nice front, disappointing finish...something slightly out of balance, but great with a weekday Italian meal...
