All grapes sourced from Bricco Boschis vineyard - the Dolcetto grapes were pulled out and replanted with Nebbiolo after the 2008 vintage. Aged for 6-8 months in large oak botti casks. 13% alcohol. Total production 10,600 bottles.
Moderately translucent, developed maroon color. Quite tertiary nose with rather sweet-toned aromas of raisins, syrupy dark fruit, a little bit of dried red plums and a hint of beef jerky. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and very developed on the palate with tertiary flavors of syrupy dark fruits, some sweet raisiny tones, a little bit of tart lingonberry, light aldehydic green apple tones, an acetic hint of vinegary roughness and a touch of developed porty fruit. The wine is high in acidity with silky and very gently grippy tannins. The finish is dry, developed and quite complex with pretty long tertiary flavors of syrup, caramel, some raisiny tones, a little bit of tart lingonberry, a hint of sour cherry bitterness and a touch of beef consommé.
A still quite pleasant but already rather porty Dolcetto that is already past its prime. Although going downhill, the wine isn't completely in pieces yet. However, the wine is so tertiary at the moment that there is definitely no point in aging it any further. Drink up - the sooner the better.
