Deep, but not opaque ruby in the glass. The palate mirrors the nose exactly reflecting the black cherry, cinnamon bark, cola and a finish of just-enough-but-not-too-much vanilla. The tannins are fully resolved and playing nicely with the abundant fruit and acid. A balanced wine of weight but not at all heavy. The finish is a touch short. Nevertheless, it’s a pleasing example of why we drink Central Coast Pinot. 14.3% alc. With grilled tuna steaks under an olive tapenade. 02.12.22. Recommended.

We pulled this for the virtual tasting Ampelos scheduled for this date. Not one of the best efforts by Peter and Rebecca and the enjoyment of the wine suffered. Accordingly, no real notes. Big tannic bite in a sediment free package of ruby-red goodness. Vanilla, cola, lavender, cherry and leather all take the stage as the wine glides across the palate. A touch of earthiness compliments the other notes. 14.1% alc. With . 09.04.20. Recommended.

Color: “Loring Red” Nose: Cherry, cranberry, cola, cinnamon and clove. But the wine also smells acidic. Palate: The flavors track the nose with precision, particularly when it comes to “acidic.” This wine if hung on a frame of acidity, not tannins. What tannins exist are light, fully resolved and very soft. The mid-palate carries a spicy aspect, but the finish is a shadow of the attack, thin and nebulous; indistinct and undefined; ... weak. And the acid; it comes through on the finish in spades. 15.2% alc. With the NASCAR race between Truex, Harvick, Kyle Busch and Kesolowski with Truex winning in superb form, and then some cheeses and black olives; some leftover the next day. 11.19 & 20.17. Recommended, but leaning toward Recommended with Reservations.

A little darker than typical SRH Pinot but still nice.
