  • A river of enchanted ripe fruit, moss and wood, bound and aligned. There's not a rough edge in it. Drink now.

  • Popped, aerated and drank over 2 nights. Deep black fruit on the nose. Mouthfilling. Bacon fat, black fruit and dark chocolate on the palate. A bit of heat on the finish, but a nice drink.

  • opened on Saturday night and didn't check the notes prior. This is a huge monster of a beast with deep dark fruits and brooding black currant overtones. We put the cork back in the bottle and let it relax for 24 hours and aaaahhhhh much better. The fruit and tannins were much more relaxed. I would recommend to hold this another 2-3 years or decant it considerably. Pretty amazing for Sonoma fruit

  • My 4th taste of this wine. This is missing the kinky, wet fur notes that I get alongside the gamey, meaty notes in a Northern Rhone; but otherwise, this reminds me of a ripe Old World Syrah (emphasis on "ripe"). There's a dried jerky nose with black pepper and oregano. It's a full-bodied mouthful of wine, but with lift and precision (I prefer it to a recent 06 Alban Reva). Dark berry flavors and chewy tannins are present along with noticeable wood and a pleasant finish. The oak notes are at the edge of acceptable, but not over it for my tastes (but I would definitely rate this wine higher with neutral oak). This bottling is a notch beyond Arcadian and Copain, but in the range of the Carlisles, Bedrocks, etc. in terms of ripeness, but I think the oak treatment is slightly more aggressive.

  • Opened and poured with Vinturi aerator. Stylistically big and ripe with plenty of sweet oak notes. Color is a dense and opaque black-garnet. The bouquet full of sweet oak notes- cocoa, vanilla, mocha-latte; along with some cedar and cassis and black cherry fruit. Much of the same on the palate with some additional notes of black pepper and blueberry. Drinks with a creamy texture. With air, cedar and tea notes try to surface in the mid palate. Lush tannins, ripe and round finish the wine with fairly long notes of cocoa, mocha, and black fruit. Not really Syrah-more like a ripe Napa Cab aged in American oak. Good, but needs a long decant or more time in bottle to possibly resolve the oak and bring out the savory Syrah characteristics a little more.
