  • Drinking beautifully. Who knew Petit Verdot could be so delicious on it's own. Granted, it needed many years of cellaring (IMO), but was absolutely worth it.

  • Wow! Talk about being rewarded for patience...10 years in the cellar has turned this beast (meant in a good way) into a beauty. Oak and tannins have faded and now the fruit gets to shine. Still chewy and complex, it is so smooth and balanced that you do not need to pair this with food. 92 is probably too low a score...this is just sooo delicious.

  • Thank goodness for drink-by dates (soonest, as well as latest). This is holding up extremely well. A bit of sediment (need to decant), which is a good thing and in my opinion enhances the tasting experience. The good news: those of you still sitting on this have nothing to worry about. The 007 is stunning in a ravishingly umami manner: full-throated, palate-coated, and long-finished. The vivacious dark fruits whisper, "Drink me alone -- if you dare." The bad news: this is all gone. Wellington is kaput, and there are no more bottles to be had. So, soldier on cellar trackers, remember why it is you are here, and prepare to drink!

  • 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (Our house): Aromas of black fruit and vanilla- very oaky. Firm tannins, black fruit and plum, showing a bit of alcohol. No guess.

  • Popped and into the decanter. A few sips at the time indicated a good bunch of tannin, but not nearly as much as I'd expected. Fruit and nose were pretty closed, though, so it does need some time to open. Cork was nicely full of tartrate and a bit of sludge from the precipitated tannin.

After an hour or so in the decanter, this was doing quite well. Blackberry was the main flavour along with a touch of earthiness. Not as complex as I recall, but not as big and burly as I expected. This is drinking well now, and will probably go for another 3-5 years, but no need to wait as long as you have some time to decant.
