Served at cellar temperature. Somewhat dark, golden yellow in color. Mainly citrus fruits on the nose. On the palate, very lively and complex, with notes of butterscotch, lemon-lime, baked apples and minerals. Great feel to the wine - I love the feeling of precision the wine presents. As the wine sat in the glass and the bottle, it really opened up, showing a backbone of crisp acidity framing the citrus fruit. Finish is still long and precise. The last glass was the best of the bottle - always a good sign. A very big surprise.

This Martinelli is past it’s prime, but not completely dead yet. High acid mixed with a buttery smoothness. Smoke, char, with a light butterscotch but harsh finish. Some fruit and honey left, but mainly astringent candy.

($35) Intense, smoky mineral and toast nose. The initial palate is ripe and slightly sweet with concentrated apple flavors. The mid-palate loses some concentration as the wood sweeps back in for a tight finish. Not Bad.

Consistent with prior old martinelli chard. Butterscotch nose of char and wood. Really round on the palate but with beautiful sharp acidity.

Slightly austere, particularly for this producer and for RRV. Citrus aromas and flavors with good minerality and length.
