Amazingly fresh for a 50+ year old wine. I was very worried because when I started to use my Durand, the cork just fell intact into the bottle. But that was the only problem. It was perfumed and lively with very fine old tannins and, given it's age, reasonable fruit. Our group of eight consumed it within 20 min and I would not open this in advance or let it breath. But I am sure it has a few years of life left.

This showed beautifully as the oldest in a group of leading Spanish wines. Very pale, pinkish colour but lots of sweet fruit on the nose and palate though enough acidity to keep it lively that added up to a lovely wine that has aged so very gracefully. Just splendid!

Decanted and drank over 1.5 hours. Was a bit acidic at first and lacked a lot of other structure. Opened up a lot and had a lot of good mellow vanilla notes. Also some plum and other warm spices. Length was good, but not great and notes only mildly varied on the palate. Overall, a really good old Rioja, but I wouldn't let this one sit much longer.

Wow, potpourri, brandied cherries, and a very strong black walnut element. A delightful old wine shared with someone who's never had one before.
