Big fruit and body, still not quite in full balance but much more than a few years ago. The flavors are integrated well, A good bit of oak and smooth tannin.

One of rightly famous Merlots made in Napa. The color is Cabernet Sauvignon black. The concentration of flavors in the smell is deep, rich, and fruit centered on black cherry. Even a small sip coats the mouth, and is just short of nailing the utterly caressing velvet texture that Merlot can achieve, held back only by a huge amount of rounded tannins still in the wine that need more aging to seamlessly integrate. Competes in the same league as top Merlots from Bordeaux.

Opened and decanted for 2 hours, decent nose with cherry, cedar, and tobacco. is somewhat lacking on the pallet, coming to the end of its appreciable life.

Dark garnet/ruby. Clear. Bright. Well formed legs. Cherry/plum/spice aroma and flavor. Balanced. Nice tannins. Sly. Acidic. Nice finish.
