  • There was quite an alarming amount of black smudge under the capsule, on the cork, which I scraped off with a knife & cleaned up the end of the bottle with a paper towel. Cork came out without any problems though, and managed to not get any black smudge into the wine. It was definitely slightly corked, and had a nose of wet newspaper, but the quality of the wine overcame the fault and made for an interesting experience that definitely reminded me I was drinking 37 year old Burgundy.
The wine was a beautiful amber color in the glass with a serious if slightly tainted nose of rose petals.
Tasted very distinctly of honey and blackberries, kind of like a sherry or port with a hint of unwound tannin at the finish.

The wine looks amber colored. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like flint, alcohol/hot, sherry, wet wool and blackberry. It tastes like blackberry, cherry, flint, acetic acid, wet wool, sherry, alcohol/hot and honey. The body is medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has high acidity.
