One by one the old Sams purchases are disappearing. From the memorable 2005 vintage, this is not one of the more memorable products. Pretty rough-hewn I would say; looking at first note shows the consistency in that regard. About five years on it is much the same; short on elegance but pretty rugged.

RUSSK Dinner w/ Lisa's folks at Hy Vong. First taste slightly jarring. Then very drinkable (good table wine) after a few mins in the glass. I kept drinking it. Austere, it doesn't have a lot of fruit or sweetness. But a nice value for $10.

So I'm beginning to wonder where Sam's conjured these from given the absence of notes. On first tasting Dulcie rejects rather violently; perhaps it was the food, perhaps it was the atmosphere; I admit it tasted a little jarring and unbalanced but after some hours in bottle it came around. There are a lot of tannins in this which need to soften; there is a lot of oak and cassis to give it content. I would try it again in five years.
