  • Rich and creamy more like a chardonnay in texture than sauvignon. Big mouthfeel. For my guests who hadn't tasted it before it was the revelation of the evening and we had it with some really nice wines.

  • Excellent wine to pair with a range of foods. Rounded nose, betraying the weight of the wine, with a faintly grassy edge to the citrus fruit. In the mouth, rounded and mouth-filling, with bright fruit, juicy acidity, and a strong mineral note. A very flexible wine with the weight to pair with heavier dishes but the refreshing qualities you look for in Sauvignon Blanc. B+

  • Very nicely made, not guite as nuanced as the previous bottle I had. Candied grapefruit is dominant. A very pleasant, well-made wine nonetheless.

  • Really just everything good about wine in a bottle. Present fruit, slightly darker side of acidic fruits. Think guava instead of pear. Backed with balanced oak that plays counterpoint to the acids. Very long, delicious finish. Suggest with light meat, like quail or frog legs.

  • Now entirely sourced from their vineyards on Mount Veeder, this is a fantastic wine! With a medium body, it reminds me of some of the great white Bordeaux's that I love. Interestingly enough, they have begun to grow a small amount of Sauvignon Gris, a grape Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte uses to blend in their white Bordeaux. I am not sure if there is any in the 2008 but I assume you will see it in future productions. While certainly fantastic, the only bummer is the price ($50) but you are getting one of the top Sauvignon Blancs from California so it is worth it.
