  • Partly my fault - bought this on a lark because I didn't know the grape. This was... Think Manischewitz without the kitsch and comedic potential. Nose is vaguely fruity, but very muted. Pronouncedly sweet, but without any acid or tannin to balance it out, flavors of fruit candy, cherry liqueur, a little chocolate and vanilla, but all with a vaguely artificial off-note. The whole was actively unpleasant, couldn't get through the glass, discarded the remainder. Drank at cellar temperature, sixty-five degrees or so, and it's possible lowering the temperature might have helped, but there was nothing there compelling me to try. Should add that I drink German wines often, and the sweetness was not in itself the issue.
