Dark purple w/ very slight bricking. Mature BDX blend with classic WA flavor profile. More cab than merlot? Smooth and flavorful. Still going strong but time to drink.

Some sediment to remove. Deep red color and fairly opaque. Dark fruit and vanilla, spice on the nose. Medium-full body. Smooth with mellowed fine tannins on the finish. Initially had a slight burnt aspect on the finish which I enjoyed but it blew off. Overall a nicely balanced med-full flavored wine of some distinction. This bottle was not over the hill at all.

I saw the review that the wine had peaked; I disagree (at least my bottles). this was around the time of the wine maker changeover, and don't remember if this was actually Matthew or Aaron, but regardless I think this is an excellent wine right now. The nose is wonderful, and I'm just sipping it and enjoying it.

Assuming I was at the very edge of the drinking curve, this opened immediately, drank wonderfully, and finished beautifully. Given that I have two more bottles, I will wait to drink one on 2016, and the last in 2017. This Claret may be good for 2-3 more years, but is an exceptional wine today. A deep garnet/purple appearance with a long finish; this is one of the best that I have tasted from Matthews.

- Brick color - Over the hill. Slight vinegar taste. Held this one a little too long.
