Aroma: plums, dark fruits, raspberries, burgundy funk and menthol. Palate: strawberries, mellow tannins subtle acidity with a long finish. Was delicious paired with steak and eggs. The wine really stood up to the beef flavor. Drink now as it is in a good place. 92

On the nose— raspberries, cranberries, earthiness, minerals, menthol, tobacco. On the mouth—no fruit, woody, dry, medium finish, very tannic, medium acidity. Decanted wine for 30+ minutes and paired with a breaded shrimp and nettle pasta with lemon dish and it mellowed out the tannins. Also paired with a lamb sausage pasta in red sauce with ricotta salata and it also mellowed out the tannins bringing a slight sweetness from the wine. This is a good food pairing wine and I can imagine it only gets better the longer you decant. A very complex wine and food pairing is paramount in this experience. 91

Ripe nose with notes of sour cherry, menthol, chocolate and a bit of game and oak. Rich and spicy on the palate. Dry and tannic finish. With time it loses some of its finesse and turns more stern and austere, still too firm to be fully enjoyable today.

Just too much wood which masks the terroir. Although others may appreciate the style but it’s not for me.
