This was our second or third bottle of this wine over the last couple of years. We have liked Kuleto's Sangiovese in the past, but would not have given it a 92 score. This time, however, it was much better, presumably more time in the bottle...? To be fair, it began with a distinct barnyard nose reminiscent of a Bordeaux, but rather unrefined. I was concerned that we had a bad bottle. However, after giving it awhile, we came back to a wonderful wine with anise, ripe dark fruits, and earth on the nose. The palate was Brunello-like. Mouth coating feel with more dark fruit and a little pepper. Overall, a pleasant surprise given the initial nose.

A quality food wine. Striking bright red on the pour, almost iridescent. Cherry dominates the early palate, with some vegetal notes. Tight and acidic on the finish, with the relatively high alcohol definitely noticeable -- best with food for sure.

A nice big Napa style red wine. I liked it.
