Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • {screwcap, 12.5%} Mid-deep yellow, but still shot through with green. Enchanting, star-bright appearance. Developed nose, intense and glorious, of slate and honey and green apples and pure older riesling aromas. The palate doesn't disappoint; it's powerful without being heavy, flavourful with citrus and steel, but honeyed and sweetly-textured at the same time (although I doubt there much RS here). The finish is dry, and freshly but not aggressively acidic. Medium-bodied weight. Aging gloriously; the best local riesling I've tasted in a while; I reckon this will hold another 3-5 years without any trouble. Very much in a modern 'trocken' German style, despite its quite heavy weight, but the alcohol is perfectly balanced. Really wonderful riesling; a tribute to Canberra's potential for this grape. My only bottle - bugger.
