This was better than I had expected based on prior reviews. Seems to be well into the drinking window, as the tannins have resolved and the secondary flavors hold sway. Heavier than the Chianti substitute I imagined it to be, it still was versatile enough to handle multiple red meat dishes. Pop and pour, was ready to go right from the start.

No detailed notes. Ok, I saved this for a little bit to see what some bottle age did to the wine. Definitely still big and ripe, displaying some tobacco, but mostly blue and black fruits. Gone is the real in your face intensity that I remember, and what is left, while big - lacks that energy and isn't displaying any added complexity. I think I'd have rather had this wine in a younger phase.

Nice, servicable US Sangiovese, but I expected more from this producer and especially at this price. Sometimes, the boutique winery does not deliver!

A bit clunky, but ripe Sangiovese. Not an elegant wine, but not big like the K syrahs either. Fine enough, but not necessarily a great value ***+
