Popped and poured. Could have used more time but it still drinks well. Black cherry, florals, black tea, earth, a little tar comes through on the nose. The palate is medium to full bodied, elegant and nicely balanced. Still a bit of tannin on the finish which som decanting could have helped with.

Decanted six hours. Stunning perfume of red cherry, herbs and tar. Even after all the decanting the wine is still a little tight and tannic but shows outstanding promise. Ripe black cherry, raspberry, herbs and smoke emerge. This is just beginning to emerge and I would give it another 3-5 years.

Decanted for one hour. Pretty approachable although still a little rustic back tannin. Cherry, earth and spice come through. Medium to full bodied with a good balance between ripe red fruit and high acidity. Very true to the vineyard stylistically. Lack a little depth and detail which could give it a higher score.

Light ruby, slight bricking consistent with moderately aged nebbiolo; aromatic, roses, tar, slight schist and minerals; light-medium bodied, high balanced acidity, high 14.5% alcohol but well integrated, high tannins and shows a bit, black cherry and darker fruit, also a bit of red cherry; finish is medium length with a bit of tannic dryness. Overall this seems like an excellent classically made Barolo that easily has 1-2 more decades of evolution in front of it, perhaps hinting at Verduno with the florals but otherwise not quite as elegant as I would expect for Monvigliero. 91-92

Charming Barolo nose, flowers intermingled with earth. Very fragrant.
Earthy, tannic on the palate.
When these tannins resolve this will be terrific
