  • I'm not sure what the other reviews were drinking or smoking for that matter. This was very good. Dark purple fruit, anise, a hint of tar & graphite. Fruit is mid palate here with graphite & banana peel showing through. A touch of black cherry & licorice as well. Tannins still present and noteworthy & the finish was at least 25-30 seconds.

  • Deep red center, red rim with some signs of age.
Honey (not pleasant), oak, some stalky red fruit, slightly creamy.
Doesn't know where it wants to go, some fruit but also astringent wood, high tannin and acid even after several years in bottle, fairly short, finishes with stalky red fruits (too tannic).
Not a success. Doubt that the fruit will survive the tannin and wood. Would be nice to think this is just a phase but it seems unlikely.

  • Found this is in the cellar. think this was a winebid win a while back. No reference point on this, don't really know Goldschmidt. Nice enough '01 Cab. Slightly austere, but after an hour of being open some dark licrorice notes emerge wiht slight hints of blueberry. Still a tannic beast that finishes rather harshly. I'm intrigued as to whether this goes anywhere tonight.
