  • Quite a rich nose of blackberry and dark cherry, with hay and leather lurking in the background, but also hints of orange peel. The attack is warm and inviting, a quick rush of blackberry and thyme, then a rich seam of dark cherry which really takes off midpalate, before a very persistent finish featuring wild strawberry and blackcurrant, just crisp enough to balance the richness of the fruit.
In a perfect place now, it unwound slowly during the evening, revealing further waves of redcurrant and red cherry, caressing the palate in a quite delightful way.
Made in a very classical style, it reminded me quite strongly of a VCC 85 tasted a few months ago, without the price tag. One of the best wines I’ve had this year, worth at least 94 points.

  • Brick red, fading rim. Light, raspberry nose. Medium weight, fragrant, delicate. Better an hour after opening. Fading, so drink up. Best with fine foods - strong flavours would swamp it. At its best with cheese and biscuits.

  • Dark red, almost no sediment. Pale rim. Raspberry and cherry nose, quite acid, medium weight. Warming, good length, quite delicate. Still good.

  • At a tasting. V green and herby to start. Needs a good decant before it settles down. Then much better with the fruit coming out. V decent stuff.

  • Still black with a red rim. Thought t might be tiring, but not at all. Nose muted. Medium weight, raspberry and currants, with a good finish. Oak not really noticeable. Hints of tar and blackcurrant. Worth waiting to see what develops. Clean and relatively light. More acidic than many reds.
