Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for one hour. Nose of ripe blackberry, black plum, cedar, black tea and dried herbs. Blackberry liquor, black plum and black tea on the palate. Leads to a long, fruit- driven finish. Rich and full bodied. Served with pasta, sausage and broccoli.

Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for 2 hours. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, violet, milk chocolate and dried herbs. Cherry, plum, chocolate and smooth tannins on the palate, leading to a long finish. Full bodied with a rich dense texture. An outstanding merlot. Paired with stuffed pork chops.

Showing some maturity already. 75% merlot, 25% cabernet franc. Originally crafted by Michael Havens of Havens. THis is clay soil and merlot on clay is very different than the up valley -- more acid and tannins and they blend in the Cabernet Franc to flesh it out a little bit. A touch of olive tapenade, sweet spices, touches of fig, complex but maybe not for everyone. Certainly has the tannins and acidity to go. Betcha it ends up like the old Havens -- earthy and teriterary. Interesting.

Bright, perfumed nose, with violets, sweet cherry, mocha and warm Earth. Medium bodied, bright fruit flavors and a long, fruit driven finish. Best Merlot of the trip.
