Aerated into decanter at cellar temp. Expressed huge nose in decant and held in glass thru most of eve. Haven't been able to find specifics on the blend, however, there's significant Petite Sirah talking to me here and I love it. This is a poster child for unctuous with deep black-n-blue fruit, cassis, very soft tannins. Not overly extracted, structurally balanced but not complicated (a little under for me) and was fine with 14.5% alc. Great depth from start through mid-palate and held through a rather long enjoyable finish. Hints of smoke & then tobacco developed later (60min+). As enjoyable as it was, a higher score from me would have required more complexity. Perfect for our Sat eve grilled ribeye, roasted rosemary fingerlings & french beans.
Concentrated floral aromas immediatley pierce the nose, along with, heavy blueberries, cassis, and stewed prunes, with tar scaling and cascading over the entire breadth of these aromas. On the palate; a bit two dimesional with blackberries and licorice weighing in, but with enough acidity to carry to the finish, where the most spectacular suprise joins in with nuances of crushed rocks, minerality, giving way to those previously spoken of on the nose, of blueberries, licorice, and cassis, with a quick pop of florality closing the door for about 20 seconds. 93+

96+, Beautiful & pure clarification of chocolate & berries. In a real hot spot at this stage, and will continue for at least 6 months, and get better.
