  • This bottle had a bad fill, and was opened more for the novelty than any expectation of being great. Double decanting may have been the biggest flaw as the nost on opening was bright and interesting, but by the time it was drank maybe an hour later it was declining and fast.

  • Enjoyed with manchego and marcona almonds - will finish tomorrow. Cork reddened 2/3s up. Very attractive warm red fruit flavors, dusty plum aromas, dry but not harsh finish. I wish that I had bought more.

  • Some seepage on cork, but wine showed no sign of flaws. Double-decanted 4 hours prior to dinner. Served with "monster" (2" thick) pork chops with apple cider glaze, steamed broccolini, and home-made pommes frites. Boy, this wine was singing tonight. Perfect accompaniment to the meal. On the nose and pallate, this wine exudes plums and rasberries. Full bodied but not overly jammy, with a nice hint of tree bark to add complexity. Tannins were present but not overwhelming, and I'd say this might improve for a few more years but is certainly not a long-term barolo. Very long rosemary-herb finish with just a hint of heat from the 14% alcohol. Bravo.
