dusty rose petals and red fruit on the nose; deep, slightly sweet, lush, velvet mixed red berry, earth, pine needles; good, sl citric acidity; good length. great example of a cali-style pinot. note; most of these older WS corks fall apart, and there is plenty of sediment.

Started my birthday dinner with a magnificent 2009 Cristal Champagne. This Litton Estate was more than up to following it. We were given the wine by then winemaker Bob Cabral when we visited the winery. It was the most Burgundian of any WS wine weve ever had. It appears to be at its peak with flavors of sarsaparilla, pepper and cinnamon that belie the winerys usual cherry laced profile. It morphs into a very, very long complex finish. A perfect compliment to a superb roast chicken dinner. Only wish I could afford and have more of this excellent Pinot.

Has nice cherry fruit in a plush, sweet style but not much character here and way below what W&S can do at least on occasion. Lacks good acidity and shows very little complexity on the finish.

PnP. Medium dark red. Nose of red fruits with a floral quality as well. On the palate this is dominated by red fruits, especially cherry, but with a hint of spice which is displayed after more air. There is a lovely satin quality to the fruit and fully resolved tannins. This has some elegance that W-S and RRV pinots often lack, though the aromatic complexity is not outstanding. Quite lovely and I think fully mature at age 9.

Deep garnet color, red fruit and a bit of cedar on the nose. Cherry and spice on the palate with a somewhat flat finish.
