By the glass. A shiraz that has lost its supposed initial power which has been transformed into a smooth and predictable wine whose only originality is an atypical smoked note along with other more anticipated plums and pepper. On the palate has a light structure and is easy to drink. Any complexity? Oh yeah, far away from here.
¿Complejidad? Por supuesto, bien lejos de aquí.

I have a thing about Australian wines. Long time I avoided them until tried one during "wine testing" - I basically had no choice. My 40 years drinking experience was shaken; I found totally new species... New genus... Or should I say alien? I am trying Australian wines since - and I am not disappointed, although most of them did not impress me, but some of them did. This wine belongs to this small but powerful tribe. I still did not find words to describe it. Flavor is cloudy, intense, powerful, hallucinogenic mixture of white chocolate, cherry and vanilla beans. Fruits are dominating, but slightly sweet white chocolate is always there, and getting from behind to the finish, which is lasting almost forever. Acidity is high, with some tannins, and at the very finish there is some oaky bitterness. It is intense, almost unbearably. It has a power of absent. Five years did not cool the temper. If it is good or bad is irrelevant. It is the thing.

Outstanding QPR. A bit one dimensional but for an $11 bottle very enjoyable. Classic syrah intensity with heavy fruit, basic feel and finish.
