  • Tasted from a magnum purchased at the winery 11 years ago. Tasted at a California cab tasting in Springboro, Ohio, today. Opened at beginning of gathering into a decanter, served immediately. Beautiful, still very firm structure but fully realized aromatics. Could've lasted years longer. Amongst many Napa superstars (Dominus, Shafer Hillside, etc) it stood out and held its own. Thank you, Andy Schweiger, for fanatical winemaking. Thank you, Diane Schweiger, for a welcoming unscheduled visit and your fierce family pride.

  • Good but unbalanced and past its peak.

  • Everything about this screams classic California Cabernet - and there’s not a thing wrong with that one bit. From the beef blood color to the finish on the palate, the color, nose and palate are all intense. Black cherry and plum lead the attack but cassis, tobo and saddle leather appear on the flank and maneuver to the head of the finish to deliver rich mocha that carries for a long time. While Andy Schweiger may be a bit prickly, this wine evidences nothing but smooth, deft skill. A blend of 55% Cab. Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 9% Cab. Franc, and 2% Malbec. 430 cases made. A special bottle for celebration of a an unexpected recognition. Some slight sediment tumbles out in the final pour. 14.6% alc. With pan seared (beef) filet mignon under a cognac-mushroom sauce. Recommended, but leaning toward Highly Recommended.

  • Outstanding wine. Full bodied, fruit driven Cab. Started out, on a pop and pour, with a bit too much oak, but it receded nicely into a mellow sweet vanilla undertone
