Appearance: red, light, clear Aroma: ripe, woody, spices - perhaps cinnamon Taste: enjoyable, well balanced, noticeable tannins, cherry, a bit liquorice Food today: baguette, cheese and cold cuts - the wine was drank well cooled and woked very well with that meal. Other food recommendations: pork, chicken, BBQ'd white meat.

Had to try this, a 10€ Languedoc Pinot Noir in Alko. Cracked and poured, allowed to open up in the glass for some 15 minutes. A surprisingly dark red for PN, but still on the light side. The nose is not very expressive, but clear notes of strawberry, actually quite nice, not candyish like some Languedoc PNs. After some airtime, the aromas are more rasberryish with a slight sweetness to it. On the palate nice smooth tastes of red berries, a slight metallic finish, but otherwise pleasant. Even some tannins. This is a fun surprise! I was not expecting much, but for PN this is quite fine, not overextracted, more on the elegant side, an easy quaffer. 50+4+10+15+7=86
Edit: After some googling around, I discover that this is from the Limoux region. I need to investigate Limoux PNs a bit!

Cherries and red berries on the nose with candy'ish toffee and strawberry liquorice. Medium bodied palate with adequate mid-level acidity and dlight grip. Vanilla oak and a touch of sulfur. Simple and cheap Pinot. Quaffable.
