78? Consumed over 2 days. Day 1: So much smoke on the nose that I actually chuckled. On the palate as well you got a distinct smokiness. It was like drinking wine next to a bonfire. 30 minutes and several sips later it dissipated but was still noticeable. You can sense some decent fruit hiding underneath and trying to come out. Day 2: Not much changes. Perhaps it mellowed out a bit but not much. I'm not sure if it is even deserving of 78 points but that hidden fruit kept me coming back for a while. In the end I dumped 1/4 of the bottle.

13.5%. Limpid medium red. Cola and red cherry, some vanilla, with a nice faint vegetal note. Not woody or smoky. A bit grippy, enough tartness to accompany a beef ragout, and a surprisingly long (30 sec) slightly medicinal finish. Drink now and over the next 2-3 years. A pretty good bottle, excellent QPR.

Served with Christmas Dinner - Turkey. Wine had slight smokey aroma on top of very fruity bouquet. full fruity flavor, smooth and easy to drink.

There are decent aromatics and flavor under the smoke but the hollow mid-palette makes this not worth the discounted price.
