Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 90.6 points

  • A dazzling array of multiberry straight from the bottle. Big surprise from a Chianti. Strawberry, blueberry, dark cherry, pomegranate - definitely drinking forward but not a fruit bomb. Not heavy on the mid palette. Attractive and dry. A bit of stem. Bitterness leading to a distant background of wood and clove. No vanilla. This wine took time to evolve but it was definitely worth dwelling upon the lively fresh fruit profile...

As this wine opens it becomes more tertiary, less harmonious - but interesting. A dusty mix of "meat" links and "floral" notes add to the complexity of this wine which drinks most superior for the $45 range.

Would pair better with cheese than meat.

  • Interesting nose with black olives, red plum, leather and some balsamic notes. On the palate it is medium bodied with good acidity, smooth mid-palate and a nice spicy finish. Will definitely drinking the rest of my bottles soon, because this is absolutely at its peak now.

  • Wine recommended by sommilier at Fiola DC. Served in Burgundy glass and was very smooth and silky without the tannic structures others have described. The cork was saturated about 1/2 way but was solid at the mouth of the bottle. Excellent aromas of cherries, chocolate, some leather and meat. We enjoyed very much.

  • Much the same as my last score, although I retract my comment about the potential for a greater score, as I have had this wine with company 3 times now and have found it to stay fairly steady.

Those with bottles should note that 2/3 bottles of this I opened had corks on the verge of spoil. Those who have many of them stored away might want to open one to check the condition of their cork.

  • Belle quille.
