Really liked this wine. Great balance. Soft and full with floral and tropical fruit notes and a long finish.

Interesting style. Really grippy with notes of meat and soil. I thought this was fun and a really good value at about $13.

Smooth tannins with raspberry and cherry notes. High acidity and a bit light on the finish. Tastes a bit diluted.

Tart berry flavors. Almost fruit-tarts here with lots of acid. Every wine in this line-up of Berthet-Rayne is amazingly different in style.

Nice layer of fruit. Still quite tannic. This is not nearly ready yet, but it has quite a bit of potential. Lush raspberries and cherry on the long finish.

My wine of the tasting. Wonderful fragrance. An elegant, smooth chateauneuf with great balance and a nice finish of dark berry. This may need a few more years to hit peak.

A bit of pee and grass on the nose. Nice mix of chardonnay butter and minerals to this wine. Decent finish.

Soft. Soapy, glycerine note and some other light, floral notes. Very interesting and complex, but did not appeal to my palate.

Really enjoyed this. Smooth and deep with dark berry notes. A very popular wine at the tasting.

Hard to evaluate this wine because I got a pretty small pour, but it did not appeal to me. Very much closed down with a pretty hot finish. I would probably pass.

Strong metallic notes. Closed. Again, difficult to evaluate this because of a small pour, but I would probably pass at about $100 per bottle. Not nearly ready to drink in any case.

Nutty, buttery and complex. Nice acidic balance. A terrific wine.

Smooth with tart acidity. This seemed like it has good potential, but I preferred the 2007 Meursault at this stage.

Did not care for this. Pretty thin with some green notes.

Very good. Tart cherry. Smooth. Seems like a really nice food wine.

Earthy and light with some mushroom notes. Not my preferred style, but this will appeal to some people.

Pretty closed for business in my mind. Perhaps my palate was shot at this point, but I did not get too much fruit here. Good balance, but tough to evaluate. Other people seemed to like it. Maybe 87-89 points?

Full bodied. A deep red color. Round and leaning on the ripe side. Very pleasing.

I did not really care for this. A simple, but very austere wine with very high acidity.

Smooth, with high acidity and mineral elements. Not a trace of sweetness here.

2005 Mader Riesling Rosacker 86 Points
France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
A little disappointing for the grand cru wine from this estate. Very high acid. Delicate with some mineral notes.

2008 Mader Pinot Gris 89 Points
France, Alsace
A nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Good structure. Prefer this to the rieslings from this producer.

2008 Mader Gewurztraminer 89 Points
France, Alsace
Very floral. Smooth and soft with slightly more restrained acidity and a little more sugar than some of the other wines from this producer.
