  • 2001 Bodega Numanthia Toro Numanthia 92 Points

    Spain, Castilla y León, Toro

    WIML~92,WA95,NOWS

Tasted January 10, 2007 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Meaty nose with aromas of brown spice, smoke, dark plums and cassis. Flavors of blackberries, black cherries, black licorice with a little toasty oak kind of flavor on the finish. Good acidity but those tannins are still pretty big. I’m beginning to wonder when and if they’ll ever integrate fully. Full bodied wine for sure. I had planned on drinking one of my bottles this year but I’m debating on extending that until 2008 or at the minimum waiting until the end of 2007.
